Biography

This year, life is imitating art for pop/rock darlings Keith and Renee. The release of their third album, Revolution, has propelled the pair into a new era of good fortune -- one where their unique combination of playful harmonies and thoughtful lyrics is translating into viable commercial success, critical recognition and an ever-expanding world of open doors.

With their music providing the soundtrack to a national AT&T ad campaign, a placement on Canadian Idol and Degrassi and a recent trip to Kenya with Canadian charity partner, Free The Children along with their popularity soaring in key markets like New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto, Keith and Renee are garnering success across North America.

Keith Macpherson and Renee Lamoureux first met in their hometown of Winnipeg, Canada in 1997 - Renee was in hair-styling school; Keith was in teacher's college. They quickly realized the potential of their dynamic, formed the band Easily Amused and hit the stage at their first opportunity. "I remember the first rehearsal we had in our drummer's basement," said Keith. "It felt like Renee and I had been singing together forever. Our vocal blend stood out from the very first time we sang together as something that just simply worked." They released Novice, their first album, in 2001 and spent the next three years touring tirelessly through every major city and college town in North America.

By the time they released Simple Stuff in 2004, they had developed an audience that was eager for more of what they had to offer. From here, the path was clear: work their way into popular consciousness one show at a time.

Keith and Renee have appeared at major festivals including Canadian Music Week, North By Northeast, Musexpo, London Calling, Nemo, and The Western Canadian Music Awards. Their unique charm and natural stage presence earned them spots on Canada AM, Vicki Gabereau and Open Mike with Mike Bullard, as well as opening for heavy-hitting acts including Sean Lennon, Tegan and Sara and The Crash Test Dummies. They've been nominated for numerous awards and have played hundreds of shows every year since the beginning of their musical joyride.

Their new single, "Good Year" is currently being beamed into homes across the world thanks to its placements in an AT&T television commercial, Canadian Idol Season 6 and Degrassi The Next Generation.

To top things off, Keith and Renee were recently named one of the year's most important acts by New York City pop culture magazine, The Boulevard and were featured as a group "On The Verge" by Relix Magazine.

Their reaction to this fantastic string of events is probably best said using their own words: "This is going to be a good year - right now! Right here!"
